John Lennon’s song “Imagine,” based on poetry by Yoko Ono has become an anthem for some people. For others, it is “the most subversive song ever written.” When it was written in 1971, it may have seemed innocuously idealistic. Unfortunately, some people use it now as a way to implant the “ideal” of one-worldism in people’s minds. Lennon/Ono’s lyrics leave me with a feeling of desolation, and, to alleviate that feeling, I’ve written my own lyric to express my own hope for the world.
