Biden’s Behavior

I’ve never thought that Vice-President Joe Biden was a radical leftist. In fact, to the contrary, I’ve often wondered how a regular old style Democrat ever got mixed up with the cabal that’s running the show in Washington these days. After last night’s debate, however, I stand ready to be corrected. He was, after all, in part coached by David Axelrod, about whom there are no similar doubts.

Biden’s resort to continual smiling, giggling, and laughing at Paul Ryan was straight out of leftist Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”

* RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.”

If we add constant interruption as part of the technique, we have a portrait of Biden’s disrespectful debate behavior. Congressman Ryan’s measured response that he thought the people would be better served without the interruptions was one of the high points of the exchange and revealed that Ryan’s temperament is appropriate for a future Vice-President.

If rule #5 was the technique prescribed for Biden by his handlers, it was the wrong strategy in the wrong place at the wrong time.
