Those who push new energy technology as the way to provide for our energy requirements often repeat the same old mantra that we are running out of fossil fuels. Only solar and wind, they say, can save the Earth from the disaster of carbon dioxide-induced global warming.
First of all “peak oil” has been refuted by Russian scientists long ago and supported by over 2,000 peer reviewed scientific papers. The dirty little secret, ignored by western politicians and the media, is that oil is derived from highly compressed minerals deep in the earth and not from fossilized organisms.
Distinguished British scientist Sir Fred Hoyle stated in the 1980’s.
“The suggestion that petroleum might have arisen from some transformation of squashed fish or biological detritus is surely the silliest notion to have been entertained by substantial numbers of persons over an extended period of time.”
He was ignored, as way too many players had a stake in keeping the phony “peak oil’ theory alive. The fact is that our own U.S. Geological Survey and other energy institutes report that we are awash in oil and natural gas. It’s been stated that we could become the “Saudi Arabia” of natural gas and oil if only the Federal Government wouldn’t put so many areas off limits. It is estimated that we are sitting on at least a 150 year supply of natural gas. Meanwhile solar and wind energy companies are going bankrupt at an alarming rate while we sit on cheap and abundant supplies of “non-fossilized” energy.
