Mark Twain and Al Gore

Mark Twain had a way of putting his finger on absurdities. His famous line, “Everybody talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it,” taps our funny bone because it reveals the absurdity of the notion that, no matter what the problem, we should, and are able to “do something” about it.

So why aren’t we laughing at Al Gore when he says, while talking about alleged Global Warming, that “The scientists are virtually screaming from the rooftops now. The debate is over! There’s no longer any debate in the scientific community about this.”?
